Le temple de Dendera

Une autre journée qui a débutée très tôt le matin : nous sommes allés visiter le temple de Dendera qui est dédié au culte de la déesse Hathor.  

Ce temple est un vrai bijou! Il abrite des plafonds recouverts de scènes astronomiques d’une beauté remarquable.

C’est aussi le seul endroit où il est possible d’admirer un relief de Cléopâtre présentant son fils Césarion, qu’elle souhaitait être son successeur en tant que pharaon, aux dieux.

Another day that started very early in the morning: we went to visit the temple of Dendera which is dedicated to the worship of the goddess Hathor.  

This temple is a real gem! It houses ceilings covered with astronomical scenes of remarkable beauty.

It is also the only place where it is possible to admire a relief of Cleopatra presenting her son Caesarion, whom she wished to be her successor as pharaoh, to the gods.
